I'm really pleased to have this photograph commended in the landscape photographer of the year 2013 awards organized by Take a view. Its won a place in the Awards book which will be published towards the end of October. In addition, it will appear in print at the National Theatre, London. The exhibition is free and runs from 7th December 2013 until the 8th February 2014.

I'm always on storm watch, not only for the surf it can produce but for the magical spectacle of our coastline when deep low pressures get blown in off the Atlantic. With the right conditions mixed with a spring high tide, along our waters edge is just captivating for me. I could watch from dawn till dusk as monster waves batter the cliffs and seaside towns, revealing emotions of all kinds. Pure hopelessness being most felt for me. The ocean truly Rules !

Having booked into a B&B in Penzance, I arrived at Porthleven with it not looking as stormy as I hoped for. Nevertheless, considering the other key factors where going to be in place, it was a green light for me. The high tide and dusk coincided perfectly allowing me to create a unique feel to this scene. I drove back to the B&B stoked to say the least. I'm still on storm watch as my last post probably tells.
