Located between the city of Krabi and Ao Nang in Thailand is a small peninsula accessible only by boat due to the high limestone cliffs cutting off mainland access consequently giving Railay an island feel. These limestone cliffs attract rock climbers from all over the world, but the area is also very popular due to its stunning beaches and quiet tranquil atmosphere. Railay is a place I would happily travel back to as it’s not over developed like some parts of Thailand. “Your 20 years too late” become a fashionable phrase to us. Phra Nang beach is a bright white sand beach on the southern tip of the peninsula and is arguably the finest beach in Thailand. Far away from jet-skis and lager louts. Every now and then a few long tail boats came in serving up some seriously tasty pad Thai. This was a choice spot for swimming and lunch for us, we visited almost every day.

I had a little trouble when working out a photograph for this beach but the writing was soon on the wall that mid-day was going to be my best bet. I rarely shoot during this hour, but the up side was all the little ingredients were around at this time. A lone iconic long tail boat with its national flag coloured good luck charm laid on the shore with the Andaman Sea lapping up against the limestone islands in the distance. I couldn’t order this at dusk or dawn especially with such a fantastic sky which curves its way into the scene.
